German Village is Columbus’ premier downtown neighborhood and one of the largest, privately funded historic districts in the U.S. Located just south of downtown Columbus, German Village is one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in the Midwest. Originally built by German settlers in the mid-1800s, the lovingly restored brick houses, shops, streets and sidewalks are full of historic charm. Community is at the heart of this neighborhood and is fueled by the German Village Society whose mission is to retain the character and distinction of the past while creating a thriving and contemporary community.
